On 25th August 2026, Nepal Development Research Institute (NDRI), in collaboration with Clean Up Nepal, Green Decision Labs & Research (GD Labs and Research), and the Air Pollution and Health Research Laboratory (APHRL), Kathmandu University, jointly organized the “National Symposium on Translating Data to Action: Low-Cost Sensors, Air Quality and Environmental Management” in Kathmandu.
The symposium brought together 65 participants representing government institutions, municipalities, government schools, academia, research organizations, civil society, and technical institutions. The event provided a platform for stakeholders to discuss how data generated through low-cost air quality sensors can be translated into meaningful evidence for policymaking, environmental management, and informed public action.
Dr. Shikha Thapa Magar, Executive Director of NDRI, chaired Technical Session II, which focused on “Data, Intervention and Innovation.” The session facilitated discussions on innovative approaches to utilizing air quality data, strengthening interventions, and promoting evidence-based solutions for improved environmental management and public health.
