As part of the inception and stakeholder consultation phase of the “Women-Led Climate-Resilient Water Systems to Reduce Drudgery and Strengthen Governance in Namobuddha Municipality” project, the NDRI team conducted a field visit to Namobuddha Municipality. The team first met with Ms. Sushma Mahata KC, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of Namobuddha Municipality, followed by Mr. Santosh Kafle, Environmental Engineer.
Discussions focused on the project objectives, proposed interventions, potential areas of collaboration, and the possibility of establishing a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the municipality. Potential sites and communities for project intervention were also discussed. The project is supported by the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI).
Following the municipal-level consultations, the team visited Wards 2, 3, and 6 to explore potential sites for climate-smart water interventions. During the site visits, the team interacted with local residents and community members to understand existing water access challenges, water sources and infrastructure, agricultural and domestic water needs, and women's experiences with water-related drudgery. The discussions provided valuable insights into locally identified needs and helped inform the identification of suitable sites and communities for the project's proposed gender-responsive and climate-resilient water solutions. @Canada in India, Nepal & Bhutan | Canada en Inde, au Népal et au Bhoutan
