NDRI organizes an inception validation workshop with MoHFS and IOM.

NDRI, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Food Safety and the International Organization for Migration, organized an inception workshop titled "Climate Hotspot Mapping and Study Methodology Validation Workshop" on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at Basera Boutique Hotel, Babarmahal, Kathmandu. The workshop was held as part of NDRI’s ongoing work with IOM on a National Scoping Study on the Climate-Migration-Health Nexus. The workshop’s primary objective was to validate the climate hotspot mapping exercise and the study methodology developed as part of the study’s inception stage.


The workshop brought together over 35 participants, including various members of the Project Implementation Committee, as well as other professionals from academic and research institutions working in the field of climate change, migration, and health. Following the brief formal opening statements, Dr. Krishna Pahari, Team Lead of the study, and Lead of NDRI’s Livelihood and Food Security Program provided an overview of the Scoping Study, its methodology, and the climate hotspot mapping exercise. This was followed by an open discussion session, during which participants shared their feedback and observations on the study and its methodology. Based on the discussion, the workshop provided NDRI grounds for further refinement and improvements in the study’s overall methodology and hotspot mapping. The program concluded with closing remarks, followed by lunch and networking for all attendees.
